Consider Employee Benefits

Writer: Mark BradleyMark Bradley

Employee benefits can play a BIG role, even in small churches. Considering that more than 50% of employees nationwide, including those in churches, get their insurance through their employer, the value of offering benefits can’t be understated. Employee benefits have always played an important role in attracting and retaining high quality employees.

Churches with as few as two full time employees are eligible in most states for group coverage which is often far less expensive than individual coverage. Full time status is considered 30 or more hours per week. Providing employee benefits is also another way to provide a valued increased compensation to employees, without increasing their pay, by saving the church the cost of additional payroll taxes.

While Health (Medical) insurance is what most think of, employee benefits also include Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability coverages which are extremely inexpensive, provide exceptional value, and can be written with or without Medical coverage in place.
