Key Enrollment Dates to Remember

There are a number of important 4th quarter dates to keep in mind whether your health insurance is group, individual, or Medicare, or you are considering purchasing coverage for the first time. Here are a few essentials to keep in mind. Group Coverage – If you have health insurance through a group plan with your church, 30 days before your annual anniversary date is Open Enrollment. This means eligible employees or family members of insureds that are not covered under the plan today can enroll during this 30 day window. With 60-70% of group health plans having a January 1 anniversary date, December is Open Enrollment for many. Individual Coverage - If you have individual/family coverage for health insurance it was likely purchased through the federal marketplace via the Affordable Care Act. November 1 – December 15 is Open Enrollment for marketplace plans for anyone looking to purchase coverage or wanting to consider changing their current pan. Coverage purchased during this period will be effective January 1, 2023. www.healthcare.gov Medicare – If you have Medicare parts A and B, October 15 – December 7 is Open Enrollment for any changes you want to consider to your Medicare supplement plan and Part D (prescription drug) coverage.
